Open Call: Dance and Circus from Finland

Open Call for dance and circus pitching event Dance and Circus from Finland takes over the stage of Vaba Lava, Tallinn on November 12th, 2021.

What?

Finnish Institute in Estonia together with Dance Info Finland and CircusInfo Finland is organizing a pitching event for dance and circus artists as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Institute. The event will take place on Friday, November 12th, 2021 from 2 to 4 pm. We are looking for performances which are suitable for touring as they can be built up, performed and built down in a day.

Who?

The aim of the event is to give a chance to Estonian event producers and programmers to look for circus and dance performances which in the future can be suitable for stages in Estonia and interesting for Estonian audiences and thus to strengthen touring opportunities of circus and dance artists.

Companies and artists who work in Finland can apply. One artist or company can pitch one performance. The performance may already be touring or coming up for the next season.

The number of selected performances for Dance and Circus from Finland is maximum eight. In addition to speech, video or other audiovisual material can be used in the pitch presentation.

Application procedure

The artists can introduce their performances in Finnish or English with a written description. A link to a webpage can be added in the application form (link).

DEADLINE: The applications must be sent to the Finnish Institute by September 13th, 2021.

Applications will be evaluated by a group of Estonian and Finnish specialists.

Applicants will be informed of the results by September 30th. For the selected performances, a reimbursement of 100 € / pitch will be paid after the event. Also, reasonable travel and accommodation costs in Tallinn will be provided (max. 150 €/pitching artist or group).

Travel costs: roundtrip from Finland to Tallinn, using the least expensive option (We do not support flight costs.)

Accommodation: apartment, shared with the whole group.

Dance Info Finland and CircusInfo Finland will organise venue visits and additional meetings in connection with the pitching event in Tallinn. The selected artists and companies will be invited to participate in these. Further information will be available closer to the event.
