The Finnish Institute in Estonia maintains, develops, and strengthens Finnish–Estonian cooperation in the fields of culture and education. The institute also keeps track of the societal developments in Estonia and participates in it through its programs. At the same time, it brings professionals from Finland and Estonia together and promotes the countries’ relations.

The institute has an office in Tallinn and a library open to public in Tartu. Some activity also takes place in Latvia and Lithuania. The institute, founded in 1991, is maintained by the Foundation of the Finnish Institute in Estonia.
