The Finnish Institute in Estonia maintains, develops, and strengthens Finnish–Estonian cultural cooperation in different fields of art, education, and society. The institute also keeps track of the societal developments in Estonia and participates in it through its programs.
The institute was founded in 1991 and started operating in its current form in 1994. The institute’s premises are located in Tallinn and Tartu.
The Finnish Institute in Estonia is a part of the network of Finnish Cultural and Academic Institutes that consists of 16 institutes around the world promoting the international mobility, visibility, and cooperation of Finnish art, culture, and science. Foundations, companies, and other cooperation partners in the target country are also funders of the projects.
The institute is maintained by the Foundation of the Finnish Institute in Estonia.
